Oh,..sorry to post again so quickly, but,...just as an aside,...what breed was the canine-looking girl supposed to be? I keep thinking back to Jen's initial conversation with Mulefoot,..and the fact that she said her family was from over there (or somewhere near there),..if I remember correctly... Are they of similar breeds?
I can only imagine (as in our world) that various species (and breeds of those species) emerged... So that canines, both in our world, and in the SLOP-verse began to exhibit a variety of different shapes and forms… We can see similarities between those in SLOP and some specific breeds on our own world, such as the husky and the hound-dog,..and we know that on our world this was the result of specific breeding by the human owners to create desired breed traits over hundreds of years... I'm assuming that in SLOP,..the same effects have occurred, but for very different reasons... Would I be correct in guessing that specific breeds began to emerge from the original "proto-canines" after certain families/lines began to breed their own particularly desired traits into their lineage by only allowing marriages based on those exactly desired traits, using it, in essence, like a badge of visual "membership" into the chosen upper-crust or ruling families? I can imagine such exclusivity, as in our world,..usually applies to situations where families in "power" are actually able to dictate who their children married,..and under what specific circumstances their desired traits were carried on and refined in the next generation....
Just a guess... I'd love to hear how you imagined it...
