Sorry to worry everyone.
The old forumgot trashed. I'm trying to restore it but am having some trouble with the backups. Things will change soon but in the mean time feel free to post.

You'll need to sign back up though.

I am TRULY sorry this has happened,..but rest assured that you can count on all the same great people returning to keep up the enjoyable interactions. Let us know if we can help in any way, my friend.

Wow, what happened? A virus? Someone sabotoged the boards? Or just an example of Murphy's Law?

Anyhow, I'm still here. Just decided to ditch the Canker name since it is a copyrighted character, even if its from a book that hardly anyone in the states has read. :p

phpbb is a pain in the ass to fix anyway. i managed to explode my forum this weekend trying to install a mod to prevent spambot registration.

in the end, i don't think the mod installed, but the forum sure was fun to try to rebuild from scratch.

The other day when I went to the forum I saw that it had been hacked by some Turkish person...or something. I was really confused.

Hmm. That's a shame. Do you mean, someone hacked the site? Now that is popularity.

Would that be Canker Canisson from the Vampire World series by Brian Lumley?

Yeah, that's Canker, the Doglord himself. He was by far my favorite character of any of Lumley's Wamphyri, with Radu Lykan coming in a close second. If you recognize Canker then you probably recognize my signature too. :)

Phew! Glad to see you back online Mr. Muley!

The true loss isn't the community since people have a way of coming back together when they've been scattered. The loss is in the content. The commentary, the observations, the speculations and deductions, the musings, the fictions, and the art... poof! I mourn events like forum disbandings and reboots because of the destruction of all the writings that represent the pooling of thoughts for a whole community.

It is a somber task to recover old ground to fill in the details of our conversations in the map that was lost. Would we want to discuss what songs suit "Slop's" Mulefoot best again and could we do it with the same enthusiasm as before? Does anyone want to bother restating their old recounts of reading slop as a personal review? How about restarting the individual story threads in the RP section from the beginning? I would say "no" because the spark of spontaneity, the promethean acts of zeal, would not be there; it would be like trying to relive a past event. There be no dragons here.

This is why I despise hackers, the self-appointed "liberators" of information. The petty thieves and digital shoplifters that pander to some rosy notion of nobility while perpetuating senseless acts of "sticking it to the man" for their own grasping ambitions of notoriety amongst their fellow sexless losers and greed that exceeds their meager earnings. The end of a hacker's games results in grief for people that don't deserve such rude sport. Causing harm without care or conscience, isn't that a definition of evil?

You mean I have to start all over with the thread about aluminum foil head gear?

There's a special place in hell for those assholes. And if Dave Hopkins has anything to do with it, the Starfish will be very pleased to see them.

But as another person mentioned, It isn't your fault Muley, it's the scum bag that hacked the forum.

Uncle

Nah, that one will live on in our hearts and memories always

And insofar as the hackers are concerned, if Dante was alive today he would have written them a circle all to their very own loathsome little selves...
