Muley never looked tireder than in the second panel. That one action of defiance that has shaped his later life, and suddenly it has never happened as far as authorities are concerned.

It never happened. And Sam made the problems go away? After all, that's what Sam does.

Interesting that Tony Ray and Sam have known themselves all along. It puts another complexion on that time they met in the bar. Just who taught whom to smoke Black Truffles, anyway?

Just shows the slop VA is as disorganized and unable to act as the local one. My cub had to get Congersman Frog involved to get his VA educational benefits.

And there you have it. The worst thing that could happen. In an instant, ALL the shit he'd been through, Thaikong, Federal prison, everything. Gone. "Blip" as JJ would say. Or did JJ, Simon, and Cohen really exist? Is his entire set of memories fabricated?

When your heads fucked up, your head is the first thing you suspect.

Is it odd in that I'm really curious as to what Sam's doing?
The fallen canine in panel five don't look too familiar...

My guess is that Sam is tidying up a loose end.

Well, that or he's at a whore house and indulging in a little gay role play.

Uncle.

Well the photos in Mulefoot's wallet at least prove Thaikong.

And to stir the pot a bit.

P'raps the loose end was Cooper, being terminated with extreme prejudice. Really looks lousy on the old resume... I mean obit.

It's interesting that Mulefoot and Sam didn't seem to recognize each other at the bar when Sam came to capture Brice there... For apparently knowing each other for awhile, they sure slipped into mutual stranger mode pretty easily that first time we saw them run into one another....

There's something deeper going on here, obviously...

Wonderful!

At the time I wrote the scene where they first meet, I tried to write it in a way where depending on how you read it, they were strangers or they were two people who knew each other and weren't pleased to see each other.

Yep,...I love storyline scenes like that...

Looking back at that scene, they were both very "non-committal" about the whole thing, even though Sam approached Mulefoot with a very conspiratorial air (his comments concerning his taste in cigars), Mulefoot kept it to business, refusing to let him "buddy up" to him, but was as equally quick in giving him the information about the fox he had just seen...

It'll be neat to see the depth of their "relationship"....

....especially considering how distasteful Sam seemed to find what he "had to do" with the sheep secretary to get the info of Brice's whereabouts....

Oddly enough, the impression I had at the time was "These people are professionals, and know better than to openly know one another."

They're not friends, or at least Mulefoot doesn't think so. He introduced himself as Tony. It's not something he'd think about but it shows part of thier relationship. It was also just Tony, so Sam is someone he can call out of the blue years later and not worry about him wondering 'Which Tony?'.

Sam is a nickname I don't think many people get to use. He can also use insults like 'Rooter' without giving offense. 'He's allowed'.

Who is Ridge?

And last, 'Friends help you move, but good friends help you move bodies.' Do you think Sam will ask Mulefoot to come on over to help?

Happy Holidays everyone.

Me thinks it goes back deeper than that. But first.... Ridge is Sam's last name. Cooper is the "other guy" whom we haven't seen yet.

As to moving bodies, I suspect that what ever business Sam is in, and remember, a glimpse of that was kidnapping and delivering who they thought was Brice, dead to the girl's father. Not exactly a mainstream job. Such as it is, I think Sam is perfectly capable of dealing with getting rid of a body without Tony Ray's help.

Now as to the relationship between Tony Ray and Sam.... Look at the business card, "Retrieval and Courier Service." Personally I'd say Sam's a bounty hunter and working far outside of the 'normal" rules for such. And Tony Ray has his business card so he obviously knows who he is and what he does. Based (again) on thier chance meeting in that shit hole bar down in Lockheart, I'd say at some time they probably worked together.

One last thought on all this, Sam seemed noticeably upset "Now is NOT a good time" on the phone, perhaps he has just dissolved the partnership of Cooper and Ridge?

Time will tell.

Uncle

Ridge is not sam's last name.

It was a good guess, Uncle.

Just an odd thought. Some critters like aged meat, is there a market for formerly sentient meat? Mulefoot's card could read disposal services. Sometimes sharing the same vices, is an introduction in business.

Okies, well here's my reasoning on that at least:

The business card said Cooper and Ridge. We'd seen Sam getting his "traveling orders" in a bar from a person that was upset that he wasn't Cooper. The assumption I made was that if Sam wasn't Cooper, he must be Ridge. Apparently I overlooked a third possibility. Sam's just one of the grunts working for Cooper and Ridge.

At least give me credit for knowing Sam ain't Cooper. ;-)
