So, is it a rosary or a necklace she's holding? And if it's a rosary, what religion(s) do the various species of the Slop world profess? Obviously the Cunni have a matriarchial one (Mother help me).

That is indeed a rosary. Rita, like Tony-Ray, belongs to the Catechisis of the Sacred Redeemer. Think of it as Slop-Catholic :)

'One litte, two little, three little indians. Four little, five little,.... oh, 'scuse me Mary, didn't mean to goose you.'

Do their sachems pogue the choirboys as frequently as happens in this universe?

I'd ask a question of Littljohn but then I realized it might involve a soapbox and the want of multitudes to harangue.

Muley, how many times have you stuck religious artifacts into your story arcs? I remember the very first story alluding to a common dashboard idol of the Virgin Mother. The latest was the rosary beads. Were there more items in between that I missed? Basically, is there religious significance to the story that I have not been paying any attention?

Not Necessarily Cannon to the Slop Universe.
There are many sci-fi stories about a dying human race, 'raising' up other species to carry on the 'spark' of intelligence on this planet.
The last act the humans do, is to start a religion to try to control the carnivores.
Thou Shall Not Eat Thy Neighbor.
Thou Shall Not Hunt Those That Speak Thy Name.

You get the idea.
And of course like all religions, they get tinkered with over the years.
Then you end up with guys in dresses leading parades up and down the isles swinging a smoking purse.

Go ahead and ask Andrik... soapbox won't hurt ya none.

And, catholic but not Roman Catholic. (Episcopalian)

Ah don't care if it rains or freezes
Cos I got my plastic Jesus
Settin' on the dashboard of my car....

Brakes are lousy and the tires are rotten
But I know I'll be begotten
settin' on the dashboard of my car.

Ah don't have to be too chary
Cos I got the Virgin Mary
Settin on the dashboard of my care

ad infinitum

Some actual clues to religion in SLOP are little things that appear all over the place. Mulefoot wears an arrowhead. Females tend to wear a claw/tooth looking thing. Over some doorways you'll see a symbol too.

Seeing Tony Ray's mug on a Valentine with "Be mine" is just down right scary.

Well done.

I imagine that in the Slopverse we see the same despearate grasping for hope within theological scripture and the same awful things justified through religion that we do in our world. I've always found religion just a little bit eerie...

On the other hand, spiritual refuge from sickness of the heart and mind and a belief in greater powers are a reality of psychology and they bring a greater fullness to your Slopverse, Mulefoot. Congratulations on not overlooking that detail. In my humble opinion, diversity of religion and the details behind the religions of different species are a necessity to help propel the motivations and evolution of some of the characters in a more complete way.

I love the murkiness of the heart, how it's a dirty blood red and how the face is blurred through it. It's an ominous message and it works on some deeper level. I'm sure everything you've done with the picture is intentional.

Oh yeah... it's good to see the stories back up. Hi.
