Today I discovered just how dangerous a nail gun can be if used improperly.
Don't try this at home, kids.

It hurts, but not as much as a recent loss.

Um,....ouch.... At least it's not your drawin' hand!

I'm trying to understand how it did that exactly... Did it bounce off the intended target and enter your hand,..or did you accidentally touch your hand with it during repositioning...?

Enquiring minds want to know!

I was nailing two by fours together... Positioned the nail gun too high and/or at the wrong angle. It went through the wood, breaking a bit off and through the air and into my hand. It was quite surreal to see a nail sticking out of my hand. There was no blood at all.

what the heck was THAT for? DIY crucifixion? There's much more pleasurable ways of penetration, you know...

Naw seriously. Heal well and fast.

...a recent loss too?

Next time, try the Weighted Adjustment Tool (10 oz hammer) instead. Slower, but much safer.

The X-Rays make it look as if the nail merely pierced the fleshy side of the thumb,..passing to one side of the bone itself....above the bone,..from the look of it...... Lucky indeed....

I'm glad you weren't more seriously injured.

The nail went though part of a board then across the room before sinking that far? What calbers does it come in?

I can confirm I'm a redneck,as my first impulse would be to start shooting nails across the room to see how far I could get them to stick, and how far in the wood they'd go. I would try this after the injury.

goddamn, sir, that awards you a grunge point easily.

i only ever sent a drill through my hand, and only the fleshy bit between the thumb and pointer. it didn't bleed much either, so i'm wondering if deep hand wounds just don't bleed?

in addition, i guess that proves that even with the nice little safety on nailguns, accidents happen.

it WAS a pnumatic nail gun, right? and not like, some crazy gunpowdered railgun nailgun or something.

*shudders*

I had myself a similar looking x-ray involving a power drill and my left foot about a year ago - I still wince when I look at those rotating bastards!

Get well Mr. Muley - our thoughts are with you and the nailgun

Oho!!!!! So it was Ramseys' Paslode that was the culprit!!!

You never know what danger you'll be in when someone else's tool fires off in your hand....

(....ahem....)

Heyas Ramseys... I used to repair those things. In fact I still have my "special set of tools" I ordered from Paslode to work on them. Although, for the most part, I worked on the propane gas cartridge ones. Lots of fun not having an air hose in the way.

Personally, I have a big Portercable framing nailer. I used that to rebuild the smaller of the two tech rooms at the shop.

Oh, and hey Muley. "Dumb fuck" Ok, we got that out of the way...

How come you didn't tell me about that? How come I got to read about here on the forum?

Any way, hope your paw heals up

Uncle
