My, my, my. I have yet to see a page of Slop, and damn few other pages of anything else anywhere, that dumped so many plot points into such a small space. Bravo!

Looks to me like Tony's Little Hobby is pretty well known to some of his old friends. Including that entanglement with Uthalla that kind of followed from some marks she carries, if I remember correctly. And the infamous Body by the Riverbank. Oh, yeah.

"The Old Monster" is coming back into contact with people who know him; a bad situation, when being unknown, essentially unseen because he doesn't seem to be WORTH seeing, is his greatest and perhaps only protection. These are people who know all about Tony and can handle him with ease.

Or they think they can.

Apparently he's well known to both Cooper and Sam. And I 'spose Sam's aware (and probably Cooper as well) of who carved "SLOP" on Uthalla.

I like the part about "Tony can clean up the mess he made." That doesn't bode well for "Chompy."

But question still remains, who's remains are those out there?

Let me think about this for a moment. Sam and Uthalla delivered a pelt to Mr. Deighton. Mr. Vandergraf headed down to Rio Rojo to ID his "son" Brice.

You don't suppose one of Deighton's goons capped the old man just to make sure the message was gotten across to everyone involved.

And got a few extra points for the second throw rug for the boss's office.

Well nobody every accused the Mafia of NOT going a bit "over the top" on occasion. Especially when they have to make a point to the people they do business with.

(Go look up Don Bolles as an example of said silliness)

Uncle.

Whathehell is Sam holding in the last panel, a frickin' needle?
And if I was the people involvexd, I'd be real careful. They're thorough and businesslike... but the pig is efficient, proficient, and purely doesn't give a damn for himself or anyone else. A truly dangerous combination with which to mess, as they say.
However the Company plays out, Uthy looks to shortly become a suitcase and two purses.

Uncle.

Sam and Uthy delivered a whole 'Brice'. What was done to him was done later and the body was in the city.. So Mr. Vandergraf did go to the river bank.

I never could stand gin; tastes to me exactly how a christmas tree smells.

Interesting that there is no mention of Tony's fan following. Is Pomander just that new or has his delayed shadowing allowed him to evade interested eyes? Though, now that I think about it, I shudder at the possibility of Cooper learning about Pommie. If the unstable and damaged Uthalla is a favorite to the mysterious Mr. C. then I can't help but to think that the deranged but strangely proficient Pomander would be an object of greater fascination.

Speaking of greater fascinations, body by the river...

Use vodka then... no juniper flavor.
I personally favor good Bourbon, but a decent martini now and again doesn't go amiss..
