Was driving home from the store the other night when I heard this song on the radio. 'Lyin' Eyes' by the Eagles. I immediately thought of the girl from the very first Slop comic.

At first it seemed like she was just in a bad situation and Mulefoot helped her out of it... in his own way. Later I came to believe- and still do- that the girl just used Mulefoot, much the same way she used her boyfriend before that. I don't believe she was even pregnant. One of the many lies she may have told over the years. She may very well be one of those girls that makes her living by using guys. Maybe one day Mulefoot will eventually find her and find out the truth as well, once and for all.

Anyhow, I can't find the song anywhere on the internet. Youtube is really cracking down on anyone who posts copyrighted content. I did find the lyrics, so here they are. A lot of folks are probably familiar with this song. See if the lyrics remind you of the coyona as well. I think the song could be what was happening with her shortly before she ran off with her boyfriend.

City girls just seem to find out early
How to open doors with just a smile
A rich old man
And she won't have to worry
She'll dress up all in lace and go in style

Late at night a big old house gets lonely
I guess ev'ry form of refuge has its price
And it breaks her heart to think her love is
Only given to a man with hands as cold as ice

So she tells him she must go out for the evening
To comfort an old friend who's feelin' down
But he knows where she's goin' as she's leavin'
She is headed for the cheatin' side of town

You can't hide your lyin' eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now you'd realize
There ain't no way to hide your lyin eyes

On the other side of town a boy is waiting
with fiery eyes and dreams no one could steal
She drives on through the nice anticipating
'Cause he makes her feel the way she used to feel

She rushes to his arms,
They fall together
She whispers that it's only for awhile
She swears that soon she'll be comin' back forever
She pulls away and leaves him with a smile

You can't hide your lyin' eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now you'd realize
There ain't no way to hide you lyin' eyes

She gets up and pours herself a strong one
And stares out at the stars up in the sky
Another night, it's gonna be a long one
She draws the shade and hangs her head to cry

She wonders how it ever got this crazy
She thinks about a boy she knew in school
Did she get tired or did she just get lazy?
She's so far gone she feels just like a fool

My, oh my, you sure know how to arrange things
You set it up so well, so carefully
Ain't it funny how your new life didn't change things
You're still the same old girl you used to be

You can't hide your lyin eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now you'd realize
There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes
There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes
Honey, you can't hide your lyin' eyes

Or one of Pete Townsend's early efforts, the Sanford/Townsend Band:

You left me here on your way to paradise
You pulled the rug right out from under my life
I know where you goin' to I knew when you came home last night
'Cause your eyes had a mist from the smoke of a distant fire

Lord, I was stunned shoulda' seen it come a long time ago.
When I realized the reality gave me a roll
If things are the same then explain why your kiss is so cold
And that mist in your eyes feels like rain on the fire in my soul

This lying, and cryin', it's upsettin' and gettin' ya no where
It don't stack up, so slack up and pack up
I just don't care
Don't let the screen door hit you, on your way out.
Don't you drown when your dream boat runs onto the ground

(BREAK)

I'd just like to know do you love him or just making time
By filling his glass with your fast flowing bitter-sweet lime.
He'll taste the aftertaste when you come home late some night.
With your eyes all a mist from the smoke of a distant fire.

Girl your eyes have a mist from the smoke of a distant fire.
(Girl your eyes have a mist from the smoke of a distant fire)
Girl your eyes have a mist from the smoke of a distant fire.
(Girl your eyes have a mist from the smoke of a distant fire)
Girl your eyes have a mist from the smoke of a distant fire.
(Mist in your eyes from a distant fire)
Girl your eyes have a mist from the smoke of a dis...
A distant Fire

A bit harsher -which fits the situation.

Well, he did find that "She loves to suck" video at the porn store.

I doubt their next meeting will go as smoothly as their first.

Nick Gilder mabe:

Danger in the shape of somethin' wild
Stranger dressed in black, she's a hungry child
No one knows who she is or what her name is
I don't know where she came from or what her game is
