Hmm well thats certainly unexpected page... though I quess yeah she could be dead or just unconsious. I would think that with the 'cutting you off' comment he just meant stopping her from yapping about things that would piss him off, so its possible that he just got her unconsious. Well I quess we wont know for sure until next week...

After thinking it some more, I am starting to think she is alive, as why would he have said that she would have made it worse than she did if she is dead, can't think much worse than that. Also he seems to hold her very gently, and has bound her hands, why would you bind the hands of a corpse? Her head seems to also be hanging down quite naturally looking, aka her neck isn't broken. So with all of that, I would think that he just knocked her out to stop her from saying something that WOULD have made him kill her.

Huh? Havoc, are we reading the same "Slop?" Tony is more complicated than how you described him and the reason he choked Jen. Tony has never blamed anything or any one for his actions; Jen tried to do just that. Tony does hate himself but I don't think he thinks himself a monster, at least not the way you describe it. Marian, Takamo, Brice, and maybe even Uthalla are all direct contradictions to the results of encountering a monster. Tony wants to believe he is more than just evil incarnate; the stories of "Slop" repeat this conflict between his lusts and his will with the victories and defeats playing out on the pages.

Again, it is only I feeling I get reading "Slop" and nothing I can prove as of yet - I think Tony clings to his guilt, regrets, and self-loathing as a means to believe he is not a monster. Jen, by trying to absolve Tony of his monstrous actions, was actually destroying the one means Tony had that proved to himself that he was not a monster; she was ineptly denying him who he was. For Tony it has always been difficult choices, but those were choices he made.

Andrick, I had felt as you do up until the last few panels. Tony was always a "psychopath, but with... (fill in the blank)". Now after all Jen did (right and wrong) he just seems like a pure short-temepered phychopath.... what you see is what you get....

Have any of you considered the implications of her last words?

As an experiment, imagine how Mulefoot would react to the following ideas:

"It's not your fault because...

it's your nature."

your parents didn't love you/abused you."

it's societys fault."

of violent video games and movies."


Now for a moment compare and contrast your idea of how he would react to them, Jen's last words.


Some people might think he reacted that way because the words hit too close to home.

Other people might just assume he didn't want to have to endure another anti-military rant from some dirty hippy.

Having missed the previous page and going through the two of them at once really made me feel the hollow snapping of her throat against one grubby trotter. This was one amazing ending - an ending I thought could have been avoided and have become complacent it would indeed be, but then again one has to be ready for everything in the little backwood world of SLOP. But it was an ending deserved. I could not have a grudge against the boar.

I don't think the ending is anything too complicated, so unlike other times, I'll thread it lightly. Mulefoot says, his rollercoaster of life ain't that little white package that you put down the glass and you snort it through your nose. But, hey, Mulefoot, you are wrong this time! Your life - and everyone's life, if that matters - can be a drug for other people to experience: extracted, processed, packaged, labeled and sold away to willing customers. Some people simply don't need the little white package; they want the source. They want the overdose. But overdose kills people.

For the smart girl she was at the beginning, carefully treading the edges of Mulefoot's emotional whirlpool, at the end she simply revealed her real reptile nature in a most stupid, reckless, suicidal manner. When she believed herself she had him in her paws, she was no more redeeming him, but accusing him. Not giving to him, but taking away everything. Not caring, but arrogant. Manipulative. Mulefoot was not blind to that; part of him silently expected it to show up; another hoped it would never do so. When she made her mistake, he simply acted by instinct. Preserve yourself, emotionally. At any cost.

What she should have done when she had him was to immediately back away. Give him space to start feeling comfortable, nonthreatened. Let him control her, after she already put the girdle of belief around his snout. Let him believe what he sees, what he feels, not what you repeat him again and again. Accept him as a man he believes he is; use no words that could accuse him. Let him talk of the past himself; speak only of the present, and hope nothing of the future. At the end, let him decide whether he stays or goes; and if he goes, leave the door open for he might return.

If she were clever enough to know that, we might have had a different ending, and a couple of you would envy her for having this boar's breath at your neck more than once. But people are rarely patient. They want the overdose.

But, like I said, overdose kills people.

We are what we make of ourselves, given the tools at hand. We ARE responsible...

What that does NOT mean, however is that the tools we were given,..and even those that gave them to us,..had NOTHING to do with who and what we have become. On the contrary,..without those very tools,..and the hands that delivered them to us, we would, perhaps, have become something else entirely.

This shouldn't indicate that the tools and their givers are RESPONSIBLE for us,..no,...never. It simply means that we MUST acknowledge that they had a part to play,..perhaps even a willing part. But it is WE who take what they give us,..and make it our own,...or not,....by our own will,....or LACK thereof...

Only a fool rests his fate solely on the shoulders of others,..for good OR ill...

just my two cents. Typically when one is knocked out their muscles still have control, thus her tongue should not be hanging out. I don't think Jen is with the living anymore.
