"Putting the pig back together," made me gag.

I'm pretty used to "foul" foods, in this neck of the woods people cook up pretty much everything. Lightly fried crickets and some kind of larvea are great bar snacks, seriously, they are kind of like popcorn.

Stir fried frog (an Issan dish) is ok-ish, kind of like slimy chicken.
I've also learned that the yummiest part of a shrimp/prawn is the legs and head (much to the disgust of my family when I was back in Australia for Christmas.)
Chicken foot soup is ok too, but I don't get much pleasure out of gnawing on them like my local friends seem to. In fact the only thing that I can't bring myself to eat is the pretty innocent lumps of congealed pork and ox blood that are a noodle-soup regular.

I won't even get started on the tarantula-on-a-stick that are popular on the Cambodian boarder.

Seriously though, if you ever get the chance, try pop-corn insects, you won't regret it

As someone who's tried it, baked grasshoppers taste like popcorn but aren't very filling. Yes, friends, this is one of the many things a boy scout must endure to earn his wilderness survival merit badge.
