This is some good, detailed information for purposes of the "SLOP-verse" in general, by the way... Hopefully someone is saving this as part of an eventually-available SLOP "Bible" that places various sections of the universe's unique history into clearer perspective...

Nice scene, Uncle!

And an even nicer one where Chavo's new nickname will be Stumpy if he lives.

I doubt he'd ever admit to anyone who did it either. How would that look if Mr. Macho told people it was some old Cunni woman that took it?

Slight correction, Running Blue Water is her father. But thank you. It took me a while to phrase things properly in Father to Daughter, and an 8 year daughter's understanding of things.

Ooops! Sorry about that,..I guess I was just too transfixed by the concept he was presenting to her (and too tired from being up so late) to remember that critical detail... I'm a goober...

Aye, but you're a live goober and you still have both of your feet. ;-)

The intent was to send a VERY clear message.

It is finished.... But it is not over. There will be a sequel to Blue. Just not immediately.

Now it's time to savagely rip apart what I've presented. Or perhaps throw a teeny bit of ego stroking praise at me. ;-)

And, last of all, but not least, I'd like that thank ALL of you that have come back to read and re-read the story as it progressed.

Uncle

PS, Runs With Stick, Silver Two Trees and Running Blue Water all wish to express their gratitude as well to your interest in them.

Great work Uncle!! Honestly!

Other than a few grammar errors here and there, there's really nothing to "tear apart" just yet! It all seemed to flow together quite nicely!

Believe me,..any "holes" will tear themselves once you start trying to fill this sucker out into the full-blown novel-length piece...

The story as it is though is an excellent skeleton for a large work...

Good luck with it!

Death is Always Near

On the day we are born, we all begin to die.
For some the road is long, for some the blink of an eye.
The path we chose will lead us in many different ways.
No one truly knows the number of our days.

Death is always near
We can't escape his grasp.
Not something we must fear
Life was not meant to last.

Death is alway near
And in due time it will arrive.
We should not run to meet him
Although we won't survive.

The ones that went before me, are living in my heart.
The ones that will come after, will need a place to start.
The ways of my people, must go on and on.
All this will continue, long after I am gone.

Death is always near
We can't escape his grasp.
Not something we must fear
Life was not meant to last.

Death is alway near
And in due time it will arrive.
We should not run to meet him
Although we won't survive.

And when my days are over, and Death I now must face.
I will will feel no sorrow, but rest peacefully in my place.
At last I'll be united, with those that are so dear.
As I cross the bridge, I have no need to fear.

Death is always near
We can't escape his grasp.
Not something we must fear
Life was not meant to last.

Death is alway near
And in due time it will arrive.
We should not run to meet him
Although we won't survive.

Given to me by Runs With Stick from a collection of old Cunni legends.

1. Passage of time. - I enjoyed the way you flashed back and forth, but I found it hard to keep track of how long it was between killing the trucker, and Runs with Stick "present day" mission.

More time than it should be, I will be moving the "present" day time frame back to the early '90s.

Quote:
2. Runs with Stick's regular missions - you said it was "running supplies" but it felt like I never really new what they were doing.

Everyone is running drugs across the borders. The Cunni across the northern border and the Coyano across the southern border.

3. How did Run's with Stick's Father survive? - For the entire story it felt like her father's disappearance was a definate. Perhaps more detail in the "deal" that releases her father is in order?

He was found injured in the wilderness and suffering from amnesia. Silver Two Trees recognized him while "gathering information" for the Unionists.

Those are the the things that jumped out at me. All and all I enjoyed it. The characters had depth, and I felt for their situation. And you gave them such a sense of faith and belief in their customs that really helped to round out their characters.

I will be doing more character development for both Sam (bear) the local police and for Missy (sheep) the school teacher. The Runs With Stick saga is NOT over yet. There's more things to be added to the original "Blue" story, and I have the outline of the sequel mapped out for "Blue II"

And before I forget, I'd like to add a very big THANK YOU to Mulefoot for his help in keeping me "honest" with regards to the Slop Universe details. And for encouraging me to write this story.

And now, a song as told to me by Mac and Roger. From the turmoil in Thaikong and the relationships, such as they were with the lovers they left behind. Interestingly enough, the original version with lyrics, never got any air time. But an instrumental version made it to the top of the charts.

You stole my heart but it still hurts to pee.
Does this look infected to you?
You met someone else and cheated on me.
Does this look infected to you?
You gave me something no one else could.
Now I'm the talk of the neighborhood.
I get shots at the clinic just like I should.
Does this look infected to you.

We promised to love, honor and trust.
Does this look infected to you?
But over the years you went elsewhere for lust.
Does this look infected to you?
My balls are covered in genital warts.
There's some sort of discharge that comes out in quarts.
It looks like I'm headed off to the courts.
Does this look infected to you.

When you told me you wanted to try something new.
Does this look infected to you?
I figured some how it included me too.
Does this look infected to you?
You gave it away and now I must pay.
But ever dog has his or her day.
You know now what I must say.
Does this look infected to you?

The times you told me you were at the gym.
Does this look infected to you?
You were really fooling around with him.
Does this look infected to you?
Here's something that hasn't occurred to you.
Go to the clinic, you need shots too.
And maybe a tube of medical goo.
Does this look infected to you?

Code Talkers....

In the human universe, they were Navajo. In Slop, they were Cuni.

Imagine if you will, a young father just before getting killed.
