This isn't technically "fan art" per-se…but this image stems from a discussion Mulefoot and I had concerning what other reptilian denizens of SLOP existed, other than Uthalla's kind.

For some reason…I kept thinking of iguanas (especially south of the border), because they seem to be so prolific and hardy... But I'm on an "Eastern" kick right now,…so I decided to kill two birds with one stone,…and do this Iguana Buddhist monk ('cause it fits into the stuff I'm working on for myself right now)... I'm assuming there must be some equivalent religion in the SLOP-verse, especially in areas such as where Tony-Ray went to war and all...

The only thing is,…if our beloved artist DID decide to have iguanas as one of the reptilian races of the SLOP world,…I'm not sure if they would be in that area at all... The cool thing about 'em, though, is that they come in all kinds of interesting and diverse shapes and facial structures...

This is my vote for iguanas!!! Hooray!!!

Anyway,...enjoy!

With an image like that, I'm pretty darn tempted to go with iguanas. Maybe we'll see one in the next story, even. *grins*

Heh,..thanks!

Honestly, though,..I do look forward to seeing which races you end up choosing to compliment Uthy's kind... It's a wide, wide, world out there!

Thank you!!! It was actually seeing your gator stuff that got me in the mood for some reptilian creativity.... I had that conversation with Mulefoot awhile back, but just recently got enthused enough to act on it after seeing you make the recent leap into scaly fun.

Hmnnnnn!! That may indeed be possible! I haven't attempted a female alligator yet... I may even give her a head-dress idea I have been wanting to play with where (instead of the wi--- I mean,..hair) I would render this sort of beaded "hat" that would make her look a little like she had the hairdo Bo Derrick had in "10"... Well,..that,...and a little something like a crystal-beaded chainmail-like head-dress...that would hang down to drape in a sultry fashion over the shoulders....

She'll need to have sort of a dangerous "come hither" look on her face...

I shall think on this now!

Good choice.. I imagine reptillian types are more prolific around the equator with their specific needs. I imagine however they live a very frugal but lackadaisic lifestyle. I think another neat candidate would be the Savanna Monitor.

Yep,...actually, monitor lizards in general are an interesting species,..merely because they cover a broad range of sizes (including komodo dragons) and have interesting personalities (at least the ones I've known)....

Visually, I think a blue-tailed skink would be interesting.

Yeah,..especially if you were working in full color,...although,..in merely shades of grey they are pretty "normal" looking, as lizard-heads go... You'd have to see-em half-nekkid to be able to appreciate their stripes.. But check out this awesome color photo of one in this great pose!

Image

I used to see (and catch and play with) these little guys all the time when I lived in the Ozarks... They're really fast and really neat looking,..until they choose to horrify innocent-intending children by dropping their tail off right in your hand if they suddenly have the urge to get away... I mean,..I didn't even tug on that sucker and it just popped right off and oozed blood from its hideous stump it left behind, the "dropped" tail wiggling grotesquely in my hand as the little creature fled away... Apparently this breed detaches its tail at the slightest provocation....

And that photo doesn't even BEGIN to do justice to the amazing irridescent blue of their tails...tails which have also been left wriggling in my otherwise empty hand.

I used to keep a skink as a pet. I called him Mr Skink, nick named Skinky Skank and Skanky Skink. He was an awesome little critter. They are very very prety and rather sweet once they get used to you. I could walk around with him perched on my shoudler or the tip of my finger and he'd just bathe in the sun when I was outside with him.

Watching him eat was quite adn amazing thing. He was alot like a gator, but without the water, death roll and all!

Lukily, his tail never wriggled off for me. I used to hate when that happened as a kid. All that hard work to catch 'em and I was left with a squirming mess in the end. ^.^
